|
Basic Traffic Calculator Tab:
Enter 2 or 3
knowns and the TrafficFinder calculates the unknown component.
Select from these popular models:
Select the number of digits precision you want and whether the calculations are in erlangs or CCS Each model includes a description and diagram to help you choose the model that best represents your situation. |

Trunk Estimator Tab: | |
This
is used to help design the trunking requirements for a PBX system. It
estimates the number of trunks and types of trunks required based upon
actual traffic studies and usage profiles conducted at similar industries.
Step 1: Select a profile from dozens of traffic pattern profiles that best matches your type of business. This is the average time users spend on the phone during the busy hour. If you're not sure, just select 10% which is about normal. Step 2: Adjust the allocation of Incoming, Outgoing and Internal calls. The total must add up to 100% Step 3: Enter the total number of users. Step 4: Select the traffic calculation model you want to use for this estimate. Step 5: Select the acceptable blocking for this system. TrafficFinder! calculates the number of trunks or paths you need to attain this grade of service. Notice that combining traffic into 2 way trunks is more efficient and will save facilities. However, you risk blocking outgoing calls during high inbound call periods. |

Erlang B Overflow Tab: | |
This will model how traffic is passed sequentially through a trunk group when all the traffic is pointed at the first trunk. The first trunk carries the most traffic. Each additional trunk carries less and less traffic until all traffic is cleared. | ![]() |
Open the grid in a new window:
Print, copy, paste or export the grid output to an Excel spreadsheet. | ![]() |
Agent Calculator Tab: | |
Calculate
Agent or Operator response and statistics.
This calculates the unknown traffic component using the Erlang C Model from 3 known traffic components. Enter the 3 known values then press button for unknown. Calculating Agents, Calls or Call Duration requires the input of one Statistics component. Click the Statistic component you want to use as your input. |

Agent/Operator Speed of Answer:
Speed of answer is calculated down to 1 second intervals. | ![]() |
Peaked Traffic Tab: | |
This uses the
Peaked Neal-Wilkinson traffic model to calculate the number of trunks
needed in an alternate-routing overflow trunk group. It is used for peaked
high traffic situations such as Mothers Day traffic, stock market crash,
etc. Enter the overflow group offered traffic samples then press
Calculate.
A primary trunk group and traffic model is created that would produce enough equivalent random load to overflow to the alternate trunk group. Enter your traffic samples and desired blocking. TrafficFinder! calculates the model so you know how many trunks you need in both the primary and overflow trunk groups.

Create your
own traffic tables which can be viewed printed, copied, pasted or exported
to Excel.
Supports all traffic models for any number of trunks. Calculation speeds vary depending on your computer. |

Voice Over I.P. (VOIP):
Choose from
dozens of standard voip codecs or make your own. Contains all standard VOIP codecs. Create your own if you have some non standard VOIP codec or application.

Voice Over IP - VOIP: | |
How to
calculate the VOIP bandwidth and delay:
Step 1: Select a standard VOIP codec Step 2: Modify the bit rate if needed Step 3: Modify the frame duration (this will determine the frame size Step 4: Select the packet size attributes such as frames per packet, layer 3 and 4 overhead bytes, layer 2 overhead bytes, lost packet rate and whether or not you are using voice activity detection. You now have everything entered to calculate the total voip bandwidth requirement. Payload size, packet overhead, total packet size, packets per second and total bandwidth with and without voice activity detection is calculated. The total bandwidth result is the bandwidth needed for each voice trunk. If you need voip delay or latency calculations then enter the codec, look ahead, dejitter, queuing, propagation and serialization delay. Default settings are typical for the codec you selected but the software allows you to modify these values for accurate estimates. |
![]() |
VOIP Trunking Requirements:
Once you have
established the codec, trunks and bandwidth are automatically calculated
based upon the attributes of that voip codec. You now have all the
rich features of TrafficFinder available for VOIP calculations.
Just enter trunks and the VOIP bandwidth is calculated. Enter VOIP bandwidth and the number of trunks is calculated. |
